In mere hours, it’ll be 2016 – on the other side of the world, the future is already upon us! Are you ready for the new year? It seems like just yesterday we were wrapping up 2014, but you know how the saying goes: time flies when you’re fighting fraud. That is how the saying goes…right?

In short, it’s been a whirlwind of a year at Sift Science. To help you keep up with all the action, I’ve got a run-down on all of the updates, growth, new offerings, and awesome new faces that Sift Science shared this year. Here goes…

Our Solutions

From Device Fingerprinting to our official launch of the Account Abuse product, Sift offered game-changing solutions in 2015. The way I see it, it’s how we help our customers utilize our products that makes them solutions. Chiefly, we’ve empowered Sift Science users to automate fraud management, so they can focus on growth and marketing instead. Formula Analytics, many Console updates, and smarter data visualization means our product can be fully integrated into our customers’ business workflows, which saves everyone time and money.

Our Technology

The engineers at Sift Science are not only brilliant and humble, they’re also generous and supportive. As a whole, they answered a multitude of FAQs. Our ML, Systems, and Front-End teams shared the secret to responsive web design, breakthroughs in migration from Rails to React, ways to integrate d3 with React, not to mention a few how-tos on building apps. We gave tech talks on our algorithms and our database, and freely showcased the awesome engine that drives our smart and accurate solution. Our Engineering blog posts have been shared all across the web and translated into Japanese.

Our Team

In 2015, brand-new Sales and Biz Ops teams helped us add new customers and take great care of existing ones. We doubled our Marketing team while bolstering our excellent engineering corps, not to mention welcoming 5 summer interns. From December 2014 to today, we’ve grown by nearly 40%, and filled some key leadership positions that will help to guide our strategy in the coming months. We shared what it’s like to work at Sift Science on the business side of things (as well as the Engineering and Culture sides).

Our Events

Sift Science participated in so many exciting events this past year. We visited some of the industry’s most prestigious shows: MRC’s Las Vegas conference, CNP’s annual event in Orlando, Money 20/20, Shop.org, and Airline Information’s ATPS in Texas (where CEO Jason Tan won the Lion’s Den award for best pitch). In between these big hullabaloos, we also had Sifties visiting countless college career fairs, speaking at the Grace Hopper Celebration, hosting local engineers at ML and API events, holding customer meetups in SF and NYC, and blogging up a storm! We battled in countless ping-pong tournaments, and hacked our way through 3 internal hackathons.

Our Impact

Thanks to expert Sifties, our SEO, content, sales strategy, design, and customer success solutions grew in new ways. We have billboards up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and you can expect to see adverts in New York soon too. We now offer free resources with insights on machine learning for fraud, customer conversion, and fraud trends based on our wealth of data. We’ve been honored with countless media mentions, quotes, and bylines, seeing coverage of Sift in publications worldwide. Our Case Studies page is testament to the success and growth of our customer base!

What a year it’s been! We spoke at more conferences than ever before and upped our exhibiting game. Our suite of solutions for online fraud expanded and our blog saw new authors from all walks of Sift. We helped our customers automate with new tools and user interfaces, while building strong relationships with marketplaces, payment gateways, and e-commerce platforms across the globe. In fact, many customers were so pleased with their Sift Science results that we quadrupled the number of case studies on our site!

It’s all part of the ride when you combine fraud fighting, engineering innovations, and startup life with having as much fun as possible. Cheers to you, our incredible network of users, supporters, and friends! Here’s to a fresh and fraud-free 2016!
